Reusable Wall System

Breaking barriers in gallery design through innovation. With exhibitions changing every 4–6 months, redesigning the museum’s gallery flow became increasingly challenging due to high construction costs, waste, and extended gallery closures. I proposed a modular wall system as a solution. Existing reusable wall systems are unattractive, too short (or unstable when taller), and they fail to meet San Francisco safety and code regulations.
Using an agile framework, I led a cross-functional internal team through sprints to design a viable model, then partnered with EHDD and Forell to build a successful 18ft × 18ft mock-up that has been used in two exhibitions.
Full production of the entire system has started. When complete, it will increase our wall configuration possibilities, enable a greater spectrum of aesthetic experiences, meet our demanding gallery conditions, reduce waste and construction costs, and decrease exhibition turnaround time.
