Photo Interpretive Lounge

A fun way to slow down and look closer. As part of the new Pritzker Center for Photography, SFMOMA aims to provide visitors with interactive tools to deepen their understanding of photography and its historical and personal significance. We envisioned a self-directed learning space between the galleries and a coffee shop. To realize this vision, we partnered with Second Story, an interactive media studio, and Adobe Labs. This gallery features interactive installations that offer fresh perspectives on how we shape and are shaped by photographs.Visitors can explore the stories behind complex pieces, delve into the impact of photography on California's history, watch artist interviews, and create a photogram-inspired selfie using the contents of their pockets.
