Conversation Pieces
A space designed for dialogue featuring innovative and thought-provoking furniture. The exhibit featured 45 pieces of furniture that emphasized meaning and material choice over function and taste. Designs ranged from a felted chair resembling mushrooms to a rocking chair made of 3-D printed recycled plastic. Organized in a conversational manner, the exhibition design included carpeted walls, a glowing paper shroud on the ceiling, plush seating, and intimate lighting, creating a home-like atmosphere.Recorded interviews with six artists provided insights into contemporary issues, fostering a cocktail party-like ambiance that encouraged visitor interaction. Dust jackets on stacks of books next to each object served as labels, evoking the feel of coffee table books at home.
