Bernd + Hilla Becher Precision, elegance, and passion inspires a vibrant exhibition design.Bernd and Hilla Becher, a German artist couple, revolutionized late 20th-century photography by documenting the industrial architecture of Western Europe and North America. They bridged the gap between documentary and fine art photography with a methodical, standardized approach using a large-format camera. They presented their photographs in grids, calling these arrangements 'typologies' and the buildings 'anonymous sculpture.' This exhibition features around 200 of their works and provides the first full access to their personal collection and archive. We drew inspiration from their use of grids for the display furniture and exhibition design, and we used orange to reference the AGFA large format film paper packaging.
